Gambling Movie: Ocean's 11 Movie Review

Ocean's 11 is a star studded gambling movie. Another classic movie of the 1960's, still bearing its original name, this movie is still able to retain its certain appeal up to now to many gamblers who are still new to this movie.

To answer the demands of many players who would like to taste a piece of this sixties film, filmmakers adapted its earlier version and turned it into a very exceptional and modernized film where a host of thrills and electrifying action became its main course.

The movie was directed by filmmaker, Steven Soderbergh along with a talented writer, Ted Griffin.

The main character in Ocean's 11 is Daniel Ocean which was well played by George Clooney.

The story shows the end of many years of imprisonment for Daniel Ocean. On that very same day of Daniel's release, Daniel starts to make out a plan - a heist; a scheme.

Daniel's targets for the plan involve three Las Vegas casinos. The Bellagio, MGM Grand, and the Mirage which are all owned by Terry Benedict (played by Andy Garcia) - the actual target in Daniel's plan.

To push through with the plan, Daniel formulates three things to remember for the heist: First, hurt no one. Second, never steal from someone who doesn't deserve it. And third, play like you are losing nothing.

Later in the story, one will see that the true reason for Daniel's plan for the heist is actually very personal - bordering on emotional reasons.

The thing is, the character named Tess (played by Julia Roberts) was Ocean's ex-wife. And Tess left Daniel for Benedict.

The Las Vegas casinos' sophisticated and state-of-the-art security measures are very difficult to do a battle with. That's why Daniel decides to form a heist team - having all the experts who are knowledgeable enough to perform the heist. And that's when things get more interesting in the film.

The team includes a poker dealer (Brad Pitt), a blackjack rookie (Bernie Mac), and a pickpocket master (Don Cheadle). The goal is to steal at least 150 million dollars from the very ruthless owner of the casino, Terry Benedict.

Although aforementioned, if one would notice, the whole movie is not all action-packed with all those heart-stopping thrills. It is also hilarious and heart-warming, with all those celebrities who usually grace the silver screen.

Gambling movies like these are really made to entertain the viewers with each scenario since there are surprises along the way. Ocean's 11 will never fail to give a wonderful satisfaction to those who will watch this film. The catchy dialogue is something to look forward to. And the very elegant casino setting, with its high level of security, makes this film even more appealing to viewers who adore gambling.

The ground breaking premiere of Ocean's Eleven was last December of 2001 - dethroning other movies that time. If one would view it, one may say that Soderbergh really placed a huge effort and a great dose of expertise in filmmaking for this particular movie. Many things could really happen in casino heists, and this film is a great eye-opener.
